Moog!- Claude Denjean (1971)

Moog! by Claude Denjean 1971 (Decca)

Moog 1

This one is covers of popular songs of the 60s done on a Moog by some Dutch guy. Pretty much as you’d imagine. I couldn’t resist the exclamation mark, and the promise of a “phase 4 stereo spectacular”, I think it cost me 50p. 50p well spent.

Moog 2

The back has some spiel about how people only see the Moog as a novelty instrument and this record is going to show you its true potential. Let’s see about that. The documentary about the instrument and its inventor is well worth a watch though, and can be seen in its entirety on Youtube.

The version of Everyone’s Talkin’ makes me imagine a remake of Midnight Cowboy set in space, which should surely exist. Surely they must have done it on some point on Futurama?

House of the Rising Sun becomes a MAGNIFICENT PROG ODYSSEY. (PS. For the record, I don't actually like Yes)

Track listing:
Side 1:
Na na hey kiss him goodbye
Nights in White Satin
Sugar, Sugar
Raindrops keep fallin’ on my head
House of the Rising Sun
Everybody’s Talkin’

Side 2:
Venus
Come Together
Bridge Over Troubled Water
Lay Lady Lay
United We Stand
Proud Mary

  1. Thank you, these were great! Listening to the second one, I kept thinking that Doctor Who's Silurians were going to walk in the room. (The original version.) I feel like I should say the tracks were groovy!

    1. It's music meant for striding into a showdown isn't it? Tukru listened to it when she was round the other day, and we both agreed that it should be the soundtrack to a real cowboy in space, on a deserted lonely planet with a mechanical horse and then remembered there was definitely some cartoon like that at some point.
